The Menzies Global and Tropical Health (GTH) Division is committed to dealing with key areas of public health concern that impact on the health and wellbeing of people and communities across northern Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. With a focus on translational research, we shape our research program through close collaboration with a diverse range of healthcare providers, policy makers and researchers, to target priority health issues. Our aim is to find meaningful and relevant ways to improve the health of people in our region.
Menzies has an office in Dili, Timor-Leste with around 40 Timorese and expatriate staff employed in-country, supporting the delivery of capacity-building and research projects. A number of projects are being conducted through the office under a Memorandum of Understanding between Menzies and the Ministry of Health. 
 
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Fleming Fund senior Project Coordinator the Fleming Fund Project Coordinator will provide overall coordination for the activity implementation for the Fleming Fund Country Grants.
The Coordinator will supervise other project staff, involved in these projects, and will liaise with health services, and coordinate logistics, travel, financial requests and acquittals. The position will be based in Dili, Timor-Leste with frequent travel to other municipalities.
 
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential:
  1. Tertiary qualification in a health or related field
  2. Experience in health project coordination in Timor-Leste
  3. Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel etc.)
  4. Proven ability to work collaboratively and demonstrated flexibility with work tasks
  5. Proficiency in English and Tetum
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  7. Effective organization skills and time management while maintaining accuracy and quality
  8. Strong communication skills
  9. Willingness to learn, continuously improve and respond positively to feedback and supervision
  10. Ability to manage sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality
  11. Initiative, good judgement and strong problem-solving skills
  12. Hold or be able to obtain a National Police Clearance certificate
  13. Willingness to travel to the municipalities
