Job Vacancy - Forensic Lab Manager - Australian Embassy in Dili

The Timor-Leste Police Development Program of the Australian Embassy in Dili is seeking a highly motivated and experienced person to fill the position of Forensic Lab Manager (locally engaged staff, level 5)

 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate achievement against the following selection criteria:

  • Attention to detail and adherence of protocols and procedures.
  • Safe handling and management of laboratory chemicals and compounds
  • Good understanding of chemical reactions
  • Awareness of emergency preparedness and waste management
  • Excellent communication skills in forensic and scientific technical terms
  • Proven ability to train and mentor staff in area of expertise
  • Fluency in English, Tetum, and Portuguese
  • Experience in translation of scientific literature from English into Tetum
  • Good administrative skills to manage stocktake of reagents and other consumables for the laboratory and maintenance schedules of equipment
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as with the forensic advisor, determine priorities and complete tasks efficiently and effectively.

 

Applicants should also have the following qualifications and/or experience.

  • Previous experience in a relevant field
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, knowledge, and experience in chemistry and/or forensic science
  • Intermediate to high-level IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

 

The successful candidate will be offered an initial one (1) year employment contract followed with an option of a permanent (ongoing) employment based on a satisfactory performance result.

 

The salary for this position starts from USD$24,448.08 per annum. This amount excludes the 13-month’s salary.
