Adviser - Communications 

  • Long-Term Adviser 
  • 12 months – with possibility of extension, expect to commence in October 2021 
  • Based in Dili, Timor Leste  

 

The Program 

The Australia Timor-Leste Partnership for Human Development (PHD) supports the Government of Timor-Leste’s Strategic Development Plan 2011-2030 and reflects Australia’s commitment to work in partnership with Timor-Leste to invest in improved wellbeing for Timor-Leste’s people. PHD aims to deliver lasting impact on the program goal: ‘people in Timor-Leste are healthier, better-educated and better able to contribute to Timor-Leste’s development’. Through PHD, Australia supports the Timor-Leste government to deliver higher quality and inclusive services in primary health, basic education and social protection. 

Abt Associates Australia is the implementation partner for PHD, contracted since May 2016, that will continue to May 2026. 

 

The Opportunity 

We are seeking an enthusiastic long-term Adviser - Communications with experience in leading and managing communications activities and media team.  The Adviser will possess strong analytical and editing skills including experience in writing for a development audience. With responsibility for the management and implementation of effective communication across the program consistent with DFAT and program branding and guidelines, the Adviser will work collaboratively with Senior Officer – Communications to:  

  • Develop and implement effective communications that promote program visibility appropriate to the context 
  • Develop a range of communication messages and products for both internal and external stakeholders, such as reports, brochures/fact sheets, social media content, speeches, presentations, and press releases  
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the planning, budgeting, design and production of program publications and media materials 
  • Creatively communicate program outcomes, results and success stories using a range of communication channels and formats 
  • Manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges
