We are seeking a motivated colleague who can support he Finance Manager to oversee and manage CA financial resources so that revenue and budget goals can be met and compliance requirements can be maintained in our Caritas Australia Timor-Leste (CATL) Office.

You will thrive as the Finance Officer if you have:

 

  1. A Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant tertiary qualifications or at least 3 years’ proven experience in accounting management in a development or humanitarian context
  2. Proven experience in financial reporting, strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting packages such as MYOB.
  3. Good oral and written communication skills in English
  4. Excellent management skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  5. Willingness to travel to the districts and remote locations within Timor-Leste including Oecusse
  6.  Strong commitment to the Mission of Caritas Australia.
 

Let’s talk about your next role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Timely processing of payment: Process data entry for income, payments, and payroll into MYOB; process payment including cash, cheques and prepare deposit/withdraw slips. Manage petty cash and assist to cash count.
  • Assist in processing monthly payroll and checking in advance acquittal report (checks properly that all acquittal come with the necessary receipts and supporting document attached).
  • Process bank and cash reconciliation in MYOB
  • Validate supplier invoices from relevance, accuracy and procurement policy compliance.
  • Assist checked acquittal report from Partners and update partner database in excel.
  • Preparation journals, ensuring detailed working papers are prepared.
  • In coordination with logistic, ensure that request for purchases have corresponding quotes.
  • Follow-up outstanding travel or training advances and ensure that they liquidated on time.
  • Assist Finance Manager for budgeting process
  • Address staff inquires related to the budget and expenses
