  1. The role
CARE in Timor – Leste is currently seeking a Safeguarding and Protection Officer who is responsible for ensuring that all project activities are implemented in a safe, inclusive, and accountable manner, in line with CARE’s safeguarding policies and safer programming approach. The role focuses on preventing and mitigating protection risk, including Gender-Based Violence, abuse of power and barriers faced by vulnerable groups, while ensuring communities can safely access assistance with dignity.
The Officer will work closely with government counterparts, community leaders, women’s representatives and targeted households in Viqueque Municipality.
 
 
  1. Selection criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, gender studies, community development, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in safeguarding, protection, Gender Based Violence programming and Accountability mechanisms
  • Experience working with NGO’s and local partners
  • Experience in training facilitation and community engagement (Facilitation and communication skills) 
  • Experience working with rural communities and local government authorities
  • Experience in coordination and relationship management skills
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Fluency in Tetun
  • Good written and spoken English
