Position Purpose

GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) Coordinator will provide technical and strategic support on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion of the SHAPE Project. The GESI Coordinator will play an active role in ensuring that the implementation of the activities is align with gender strategies.

  1. Project Description:

 

SHAPE is multi-country programme under a negotiated partnership between the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and ADRA New Zealand. It is implemented in four countries within the Pacific and South-East Asia (SEA), including Timor-Leste (TL). The SHAPE in Timor -Leste is a five-year programme (2021 – 2026) implemented in 15 sucos in Viqueque Municipality with target beneficiaries of 2,700 participants across all activities (50% female and 31% under 30-year-olds).

 

SHAPE Project Goal is healthier and more resilient communities in the Pacific and Southeast Asia.  The program components that will be particularly implemented in Timor-Leste are under 2 Long Term Outcomes:

  • Increase protection and economic resilience for women and girls.
  • Increased food and income security for farming communities.

 

 

  1. Key Responsibilities (Expected Outcomes)
  • Design and lead GESI Assessment of SHAPE Project
  • Lead the team in developing GESI Plan (how to mainstream GESI in SHAPE Project activities)
  • Design and deliver staff and key stakeholders capacity building activities on GESI
  • Lead mainstreaming of GESI strategies throughout all project components and activities
  • Collaborate with the team members to ensure implementation of GESI plans and M&E related activities

 

  1. Dates and Duration

This position is a part time position with a maximum total of 60 working days within the range of 6 months delivery (February – July 2022), with the following details:

  • GESI Assessment and recommendations                                                20 working days
  • Developing GESI Plan                                                                                5 working days
  • Design and deliver staff capacity building activities on GESI                    10 working days
  • Design and deliver key stakeholder capacity building activities on GESI   5 working days
  • Ensuring implementation of GESI Plan and M&E related activities          20 working days

 

  1. Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, International Development or similar sector (master’s degree is more preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the fields of gender equality and social inclusion, community driven development, capacity building
  • In-depth knowledge of gender inclusion issues Timor-Leste
  • Technically sound experiences in leading GESI Assessment and working in teams to build capacity and awareness on gender and inclusion
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and Tetum
  • Strong time management skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently prioritize tasks and develop plans of action

Desirable:

  • Timorese nationality
  • Already resides in Timor-Leste

 

  1. Application Process

  • List of 3 references
  • A narrative proposal which should include the following information (at a minimum):
  • General proposal with clear methodology on how to deliver the Key Responsibilities
  • Proposed salary 
  • Proposed timeline
