Community Health Facilitators (Two Positions Lautem Municipality) - ChildFund Timor-Lest

Location: Lautem Municipality (one in Luro Administrative post and one in Lautem Administrative post)

Employment: Full-time, Initial One-year employment agreement, with three Months’ probation and option to extend depending on performance and funding availability.

Reports to: ChildFund Timor-Leste Health Project Coordinator

Other Information: Frequent travel to project locations required and a Criminal History Check are required to be undertaken for this position.

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this position is to support the field level implementation and monitoring of the RMNCH Reproductive Maternal Nutrition and Child Health activities in Lautem Municipality. Under the supervision of the health project coordinator you will provide on-going support and coaching to strengthen the capacity of PSF, Mother support groups, Male engagement fora and youth peer educators. The community health facilitators will support community mobilization and work closely with Municipality health staff, CHC, community leaders and parents.  You will ensure timely data collection and adhere to ChildFund’s policies, project requirements and standards of our community health programs.  

 

KEY DUTIES

  • Work in coordination with Municipality Health Office, Community Health Centres, and key community leaders to mobilize the community and identify community members to be trained as Mother Support Groups members
  • Work in coordination with Community Health Centres to strengthen capacity of PSF and MSG members on basic technical health and nutrition topics (focus on MCH & nutrition) through training and coaching
  • Work in collaboration with local community leaders and youth CSO/groups and schools to implement adolescent/youth peer-to-peers sessions, and work collaboratively with Community Health Centres to provide capacity building training to Youth Educators on adolescent/youth reproductive health topics
  • Conduct regular supervision to PSF and MSG members at Suco and Aldeia level in coordination with local health staff
  • Assisting and supporting PSF and MSG members in mobilizing communities for health & nutrition promotion and education activities, including support/promotion of male involvement and advocacy with CHC and key leaders in community
  • Ensuring successful implementation of PDI/Nutrition Education Rehabilitation Sessions (NERS) approach, which include mobilization of parents, coordination with Nutrition Focal Points at CHC/HP level and monitoring and supervision of NERS activities
  • Prepare activity plan, budget requests, monitoring results and submit to Health Project Coordinator; Participate in the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly project plans and reports; Assist in survey tasks (baseline, KPI, end-line) and any research related to the project goals.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, annually coordination meetings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years’ work experience in nutrition and reproductive health promotion and coordination, community facilitation, and volunteers’ supervision is required.
  • Fluency in Tetum is required, and fluency in Fataluku and Makasae is added advantage.
  • University degree (equivalent) in public health, nutrition, community health, social sciences field is preferred.
  • Previous work with health systems such as Promotor saude Familiar, Saude na Familia, Mother Support Group methodology will be an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to work in the community, provide guidance and leadership to motivate PSF and MSG members.
  • Valid Motorcycle license
