Role:    
Co-ordinator – Development Programs & Communications

Location:           
Fatuhada, Dili
The role will also involve travel to Hera, Hatulia Administrative Post (Guisarudo) and Zumalai Administrative Post.
Possibility of travel to Australia also.

Role Type:         
This role is being offered as a full time, direct employment position.

Commencement:         
Flexible, but prefer 2024 start
 
Salary:
US$1,250 per month 
Negotiable (up or down) subject to experience and qualifications
 
Supervision:    
Your direct line manager will be the Provincial Business Manager (based in Melbourne, Australia).
You will receive some day-to-day local instructions from:
  •  The Provincial Delegate (local Carmelite leader)
  •  The Bursar
Who are we?    
The Carmelites are a Catholic religious order of priests and brothers (friars) who work in both Australia and Timor-Leste.  They have a specific focus on spirituality, prayer and service. 
In Timor-Leste we run retreats, work in universities and chaplaincy, provide pastoral leadership in parishes and support the formation and preparation of Carmelite students for the priesthood.
Our Australian charity, Carmel Impact (https://carmelimpact.org.au/), runs an education program including  providing scholarships  for 40 Timorese students (secondary, vocational and university), and operating a boarding house and a range of school support programs in Zumalai.
 
Key Responsibilities:   
1) Program management and administration for charity programs
  • Budget management and monitoring funding acquittals
  • Program monitoring  and evaluation, including reports
  • Program publicity – photos, videos, stories etc
2) Donor Communications
  • Support communications with Australian donors
  • Regular posting on social media
  • Preparation of copy (material / stories) for newsletters
3) Community Building & Database Administration
  • Collect and record contact information for Carmelite associates in Timor-Leste
  • Develop communications with local supporters
  • Support local Carmelite events
4) Donor Tour Management
  • Develop tour programs for visiting supporters from Australia
  • Co-ordinate and lead visiting tour groups of 8-12 people
5) Administrative Support for the Province
  • Provide support as required for provincial record-keeping
Successful candidates MUST HAVE:    
  • University qualifications
  • Experience in administering development programs
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Driver’s licence
  • Good IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
These additional skills would be WELL REGARDED and should be referenced in your application:      
  • Experience working in Timor-Leste with an international organisation
  • Experience working or studying overseas
  • Photography (including filming)
  • Social media management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, websites)
  • Financial management / book-keeping
  • Journalism / writing / editing / publishing
  • Additional languages
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles for children & young people
  • Access to your own motor vehicle
