Position Title: Program Officer

Reports to: Program Coordinator and Program Manager

Location: Dili Municipality

1. Background

1.1 About PRADET

PRADET (Psychosocial Recovery and Development in East Timor) was established as a national NGO in 2002 to provide psychological and psychosocial support to people with mental health issues including survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, human trafficking, and other relevant psychosocial problems in Timor-Leste.

1.2 About KOKOSA Program!

KOKOSA= KOMESA (Start), KONSIENSIA (Awareness), SUPORTA (Support) no ASAUN (Action). KOKOSA provides instruments, orientation, and encouragement to individual and organizational activists to do preventive activities to prevent violence against women and children at the village level. Violence is part of violation against human rights which causing social consequence, health issue, economic etc.

KOKOSA has an objective to recall about the power; - your power, my power, and our power. KOKOSA believes that every one of us has the power to learn and be aware of supporting others, power for making a change, and creating a healthy and safe relationship within the community.

In addition, KOKOSA influences the community by encouraging men and women, and other marginalized groups to work together to prevent violence against women and marginalized groups in the community through approaching the community to continuously expand changes in the community.

2. The Role

Main Responsibilities of the Program Officer

• Support the community activist and local leader to implement the activities in the community by providing training, mentoring, accompanying, and other work-related in the community
• Support the KOKOSA Program Coordinator to implement activities in Suco (village) that have been identified in Dili municipality
• Support Program Coordinator to plan and prepare materials/activities needed for the workshops/trainings which have been planned
• Facilitate training for the activist, community leaders, and community
• Accompany/assist the activist and community leaders to spread/expand the information related to the program along with its objective in Dili municipality
• Visit/survey the location of where the activity is going to take place based on the activities that have been planned
• Regular visits and support the activists to implement KOKOSA activity in the target villages
• Support the program coordinator to prepare a report of the activities for the donor.

3. Selection Criteria

Experience and Qualification

• Minimum has a bachelor's degree in the relevant area and has knowledge and working experiences in gender areas including the prevention of violence against women
• Experience working in facilitating discussion and mobilizing community at the community level
• Good reading, writing, and speaking skills and good English and Portuguese skills are good advantages.
• Skills in using computers at a standard and advanced level most preferably and able to use and respond to an email.
• Attach the document of “Criminal Check Record”
