Job Description

World Vision International in Timor-Leste

World Vision is a global relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Inspired by our Christian values, we work with the world’s most vulnerable people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. World Vision Timor-Leste began its first project in Aileu municipality in 1995, and opened its national office in Dili in 1999. Today, we have three Area Programs implementing projects in four municipalities: Aileu, Baucau, Bobonaro and Covalima.

Our mission is ‘Healthy children for strong communities’. We recognize that children’s health is holistic in nature and includes their physical, mental, intellectual and social wellbeing. We aim to empower Timorese children to transform their lives, in partnership with their families and communities.

Purpose Of Position

The purpose of the position is to
  • facilitate the trainings to the community
  • communicate with the communities when there are activities will be implemented in the target area.
  • coordinate and mobilize the community and community leaders
  • leads and monitor after training
Major Responsibilities
  • Actively work together with Project Facilitator in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting processes relevant to assigned areas.
  • Facilitate and organize various project events/training /meeting in the communities as part of the project implementation
  • Develop TOR checked by Project Coordinator before deliver to technical specialist for revision, and implement the activity by training or workshop, manage the logistics and finance administration of activities in the sector
  • Controlling all the activities implement in 5 villages such Balibo, Leolima, Leohitu, Sanirin and Cowa and villages that will be assigned to be responsible
  • Ensure that gender analysis, Christian commitment, and child protection are mainstreamed within WV initiatives in their assigned communities
  • Assist the project coordinator in facilitating visioning and planning processes with community members – especially the most vulnerable, and within community based groups
  • Develop monthly work plans and weekly activity schedule and submit these to the Project Coordinator.
  • Data entry to master list after activities done so that the data will not delay in entering to master list.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • University Degree in relevant technical field
  • At least minimum of 2 years of appropriate professional experience related with Gender and Child Protection
  • Experience of facilitating development projects and/or working with community members
  • Good presentation and communication skills for a number of different audiences
  • Proven time management and organizational skills
  • Literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Fluent in Indonesia and Tetum and preferably in the local dialect in area where you are serving
  • English language skills (can read, write and understand English)
  • Ability to ride a motorbike and have the license or willingness to learn this
  • Proven leadership ability and experience as a team
