National Expert for Project Coordination

 

As a federal enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been operating in Timor-Leste since 1999 and has implemented numerous projects in a range of technical fields such as economic development, employment promotion, peace building or civil conflict transformation. GIZ works closely with Timorese governmental and non-governmental partners.

 

For a new individual measure on Societal Participation for People with Disabilities and Mental Illnesses, GIZ is looking for a dynamic Project Coordinator with attention to detail. The role focuses on coordination between GIZ, local partner organisations, the National Rehabilitation Centre and the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion as the political partner. The successful candidate will ensure the timely and successful implementation of planned activities in order to facilitate better opportunities for participation in society for people with disabilities and mental illnesses.

 

Position :  Project Coordination            Duty Station :  Dili

Contract duration :    up to 10 months                     Start date :  As soon as possible

 

  1. Responsibilities

The project coordinator will

  • Ensure smooth coordination between key stakeholders of the project;
  • Facilitate communication between project management and local stakeholders in a target group specific manner;
  • Assist in the implementation of project activities as required, e.g. organisation of workshops and trainings;
  • Assist project partners in needs identification and channel feedback between the local level and the implementing parties;
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in line with the objectives of the project and that project partners adhere to GIZ standards and regulations;
  • Support information and data gathering for M&E on the local level;
  • Manage project-related records by ensuring that all required materials are up-to-date and properly filed and stored;
  • Assess potential difficulties in project implementation and develop solutions;
  • Perform other duties and tasks related to the position as required.

 

  1. Required qualifications, competences and experience

The project coordinator should have strong organizational and communication skills and a high attention to detail to ensure that the planned activities meet all requirements and objectives. He/she should have professional experience in an international organisation and preferably working experience with vulnerable groups.

 

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study 
 
Experience and knowledge requirements
  • At least 2-3 years of professional experience in international cooperation, preferably in a similar role;
  • Very good MS Office skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and Tetum.
 
Soft skills
  • Creativity, persistence and resourcefulness – ability to solve problems as they come up;
  • Accountability, excellent team and interpersonal skills;
  • Intercultural competence and ability to work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Additional requirements
  • Good network with relevant stakeholders in the field of disability and mental health is an asset
