Who we are
Te Tūao Tāwāhi - Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) is New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteer agency working in international development. We connect people from Aotearoa New Zealand to here in Timor-Leste and other countries in the Pacific Region.
We work with our partners here in Timor-Leste, to connect them with our volunteers so together they can share experiences, knowledge, and cultures. Collectively we want to transform the lives of many and provide greater cultural understanding to create a fair future for all.
The nature of the position
As our Country Programme Coordinator you will look after VSA’s office in Dilli, Timor-Leste, providing coordination and administrative support to ensure VSA is providing a high quality and professional development programme to our partners in Timor-Leste. Working with our Timor-Leste Programme Manager, you will keep on top of our office management requirements, ensuring office records and finances are well maintained. Your process and systems skills will ensure everything runs seamlessly.
As well as our Timor-Leste office, you will provide excellent property management of VSA’s property portfolio of volunteer housing here in Timor-Leste. Managing leases, a rental schedule, and utility agreements on all volunteer houses, as well as identifying suitable housing opportunities.
You will get to help our wonderful volunteers with their induction to Timor-Leste, providing cultural advice and assisting with the logistics and coordination of their arrival and orientation. Your friendly nature will provide a supportive environment to our volunteers, helping them with any of their queries or needs, ensuring successful assignment completion for our partner organisations.
Essential skills/experiences for the role
We are looking for someone that believes in shared learning achievable through volunteering, and wants to work with us and our partner organisations to uplift our communities.
As our Country Programme Coordinator, you will ideally have:
- Experience in administration, property, office and/or operational management.
- Successful experience in developing office systems and maintaining office records.
- Training or qualification in banking and accounting management, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained. Comfortable also with the handling of cash.
- Highly accurate, proactive and able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
- Proven trustworthiness, discretion and reliability.
- Proven successful experience of liaising with external organisations and relevant authorities.
