Vacancy Announcement – Junior Advisor

 

As a federal enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been operating in Timor-Leste since 1999 and has implemented numerous projects in a range of technical fields such as economic development, employment promotion, peace building or civil conflict transformation. GIZ works closely with Timorese governmental and non-governmental partners.

GIZ is looking for a Junior Advisor in the “Juventude ba Mudansa - Youth for Change (Y4C)” project. The overall goal of the project “Youth for Change (Y4C)” is to strengthen the capacities of actors working in the field of youth promotion and to enhance the capacities of young women and men to engage in civic initiatives and to prevent violence, especially violence against women and girls in four districts in Timor Leste: Baucau, Viqueque, Lautem and Dili.

Contract duration:    until October 2022     Start date:         As soon as possible

 

  1. Responsibilities

The Junior Advisor will

  • Assist in the implementation of project activities as required, e.g. organisation of workshops and trainings;
  • Support the smooth implementation of the project in close cooperation and collaboration with the Project Coordinators and the Principal Advisor of the Project
  • Provide support and supervision to the project’s partner organizations, e.g. in proposal and report writing
  • Provide regular updates on the status of implementation to enable the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Project
  • Support the knowledge management of the project
  • Support in the organization of events as required
  • Perform other duties and tasks related to the position as required.

 

  1. Required qualifications, competences and experience

The Junior Advisor should have good organizational and communication skills and a high attention to detail to ensure that the planned activities meet all requirements and objectives.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study

 

       Experience and knowledge requirements

  • Good knowledge about youth promotion and Gender;
  • Very good MS Office skills;
  • Fluency in English and Tetum, both orally and written;
  • Experience in conduction of workshops and trainings;
  • professional experience in international cooperation is an asset.

  • Creativity, persistence and resourcefulness – ability to solve problems as they come up;
  • Accountability;
  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills;
  • High level of self-motivation and self-organized working routine;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.

 

Additional requirements

  • Good network with relevant stakeholders in the field of youth promotion and prevention of violence against women and girls
  • Willingness to travel to the municipalities
